This guide provides general information. Confirm the exact vehicle, charger datasheet, site conditions and current local requirements before purchase or installation.

A higher rated charger is not automatically faster

A 22 kW AC charger only provides a benefit when the vehicle's onboard AC charger can accept that power and the electrical supply supports the installation. Some vehicles accept much less AC power, so the vehicle becomes the limiting factor.

When 7.4 kW may be suitable

A 7.4 kW unit may suit home charging where the vehicle supports that rate and the electrical installation is designed for the load. The actual supply, cable and protection design must be checked by a qualified installer.

When to consider 22 kW

A 22 kW AC unit may be useful at workplaces, hotels and commercial parking where compatible vehicles are expected and a three-phase supply is available. Confirm the vehicle acceptance and site load before spending more on capacity.
