This guide provides general information. Confirm the exact vehicle, charger datasheet, site conditions and current local requirements before purchase or installation.
Start with the location and customer
A charging site should be planned around who will use it, when they will arrive, how long they will stay and how much energy they are likely to need. A hotel, highway restaurant and fleet depot have very different usage patterns.
- Site access and parking safety
- Nearby EV traffic and dwell time
- Land or property control
- Amenities and operating hours
- Power availability and connection feasibility
Understand the electrical project
Charger capacity is only one part of the power requirement. The site may need a new or enhanced connection, transformer or distribution changes, protection, earthing, civil work and utility coordination. Obtain a site-specific assessment before committing to equipment.
Build a realistic financial model
Estimate energy sales using conservative utilization scenarios. Include electricity cost, demand charges where applicable, land rent, maintenance, payment charges, staffing, downtime, finance and taxes. Keep gross revenue separate from operating contribution and net profit.
Check current rules and incentives
Review current Ministry of Power guidelines, state policy, DISCOM requirements and any incentive scheme's eligibility conditions. Incentives are conditional and should not be included as certain cash flow until formally approved.
